  PI

Tongjun Sun joined the Ecological Genomics Center of AGIS as a research professor in February 2021. During his Ph.D. and postdoc careers at University of British Columbia, he mainly focused on signal transduction and regulation in plant immunity. His past studies identified receptors of the plant defense hormone salicylic acid (SA) and uncovered important immune regulators of signaling pathways mediated by SA and the plant defense molecule N-hydroxypipecolic acid (NHP).

We have open positions for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. If you are interesting in exploring the field of plant immunity, please contact Dr. Sun (suntongjun@caas.cn).

  Research Interest

The Sun lab will focus on signal transduction in plant defense signaling, especially on SA and NHP signaling. We will utilize various approaches involving genetics, biochemistry, molecular biology, as well as omics platforms of AGIS to carry out research on following topics: 1) Signal transduction involved in systemic acquired resistance 2) Roles of SA and NHP signaling pathways in defense against related pathogens in main crops 3) Improvement of disease resistance in main crops through engineering SA and/or NHP signaling.
